In this webinar, Healthscope Independence Services join with Maurice Blackburn Lawyers to discuss the complexities of accessing Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) and Supported Independent Living (SIL) funding from a legal perspective.

Funding for SDA and SIL under the NDIS have become contentious issues and a source of an increasing number of Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) disputes. NDIA decisions are not always consistent with the legislation and rules, so it’s important that participants and practitioners understand their rights.

This aim of the session is to provide you with practical information and advice about SDA funding and, in particular, what to do when funding is denied. This will include:

  • A brief explanation of the legislation and rules relating to SDA funding;
  • Recent relevant AAT decisions and other anecdotal experience with AAT disputes;
  • Common arguments made by the NDIA;
  • What evidence participants need to support their request; and
  • How to respond if funding is denied.
